A collaborative boutique of Indonesia’s talented young designers is officially unveiled. Afia R Fitriati has the first look.

Eight up-and-coming Indonesian designers have joined forces to present their premium fashion collections in Kemang, one of Jakarta’s high-end locations.

The MEIN Designers boutique on Jl Kemang Raya 72 E, South Jakarta, was officially introduced to the public last week in a week-long fashion marathon that also set out to unveil the latest designs of the tenant labels: Mimi Alysa, Restu Anggraini, Indira Putri, Nabilia, Fitri Aulia, Treimèe by Nadya & Afra, Noni Zakiah, and Deeandra.

The ‘MEIN Fashion Marathon’ comprised a 7-day-long fashion sale, a makeup and hijab class, a religious study class, a high-tea event, and a fashion show.

‘This fashion marathon is a token of appreciation for the community of MEIN’s loyal customers, which is called #MEINers,’ said Hary Novianto, the collective’s brand director, in its press release.

Girly vintage is the overall theme of the MEIN boutique’s interior. Clients of the store, however, can expect to see a variety of design concepts from the labels under its roof: from the chic officewear of Deeandra and the Coco Chanel-inspired jackets of Treimèe Limited, to the bold yet feminine designs of Fitri Aulia.

This vibrant variety was under the spotlight at the MEIN fashion show, which took place on the sixth day of the Fashion Marathon. Out of all the beautiful, modest pieces that were showcased, the elegant formalwear of Mimi Alysa and the surprisingly feminine take of Restu Anggraini were most notable.

‘I usually play with bold colours and asymmetric cuts in my designs, but for this premium collection I’d like to feature something different,’ said Restu, whose presentation included a crème-coloured light jacket with a ruffled long tail, paired with a girly maxi dress.

‘I love every single thing in Fitri Aulia’s premium collection. The blazer is a must have,’ tweeted Ayu Anggarini, one of the fashion show’s attendees.
